I decided to upgrade from my Polygon Path 2 (Hybrid) to a road bike. My rides are 80-90% on tar roads. Looking at the condition of the roads i decided to look at bikes capable of slight off roading as well, hence wanted something in the gravel/ do it all - drop bar segment. I had 2 options -
1. Trek Domane AL3
2. Marin Gestalt 1
I was more inclined towards the trek, but due to supply issues it was extremely difficult to procure. Then spoke to Biju regarding the same, he convinced me that the Marin is as capable a bike as the trek, and also there was no clarity on when the trek would be available. Hence i went with his word and bought the Marin
I have used this bike for 6 months now, so here is the review.
I primarily use this bike for long rides, so far i have completed about 1000 Km, this includes about 3-4 century rides. This is a very capable bike, with and i was completely blown away by the handling. The rides are comfortable, and honestly i have nothing to complain about when it comes to the ride quality. The braking could use a bit more stopping power, and Marin could have provided a Shimano sora crank None the less I am extremely satisfied with the bike and have absolutely no regrets about the choice i made. It does 100% justice to its Road/Gravel/Adventure characteristics. There are more than enough mounting points to allow you to do tours as well.
Coming to the experience of purchasing the bike from cycling boutique-
This is the second bike i have purchased from cycling boutique (1st was the polygon). Before making the purchase, i met Biju about 2-3 times since i was keen on the trek, but Biju kept backing me, and assured me that there was absolutely no reason to sideline the Marin, and it was as capable enough and would meet my expectations. Having known Biju for about 4 years, and how his advice has only made cycling so much more wonderful for me i went ahead with the purchase. They ensured the bike fit me well with their exemplary bike fit service, and the whole experience was just flawless. It is definitely the one stop shop for all cycling needs. And with Biju's guidance you only go deeper into cycling and enjoy it all the more.
