A valve extender is an accessory used to extend the length of the valve on a tube (or tire in the case of tubular tires). On standard wheels, this is not necessary because the valve is long enough, but on deep-rimmed wheels, the valve must be extended due to the height of the rim to connect the valve to the inflator.
